Georgina O’Connell was born in South Africa in 1968. She now lives in what was her grandparent’s home, a minute’s walk from the beach in Umdloti, where she spent most of her childhood holidays. Her earliest memories included the diverse beauty of living on a farm in the African bush on the banks of the Crocodile River and beach holidaying in a little seaside town called Umdloti in KwaZulu-Natal, which is now her home. She was educated at St Anne’s College in Natal, Archie Leggat Academy of Fashion and Design in Johannesburg, and then spent a few years in Paris at the Sorbonne University studying a post-graduate degree in Art. During this time Georgie travelled through Europe, gathering inspiration. She then became a ladies wear buyer in Cape Town, and worked for Elzbieta Rosenwerth before going it alone.
Having had three daughters of her own, and three step children, Georgie now lives in Umdloti, and has been heavily influenced by the coastal way of living. With an eye for the finer things that life has to offer, Georgie’s focus is to combine products that are comfortable, exciting, beautiful and happy. Coast Style embraces the classic and timeless design of coastal living, while pushing the limits with contemporary designs, colours and textures. Georgie’s love for fabrics, island style fashion, and eclectic taste cultivates the dynamic colours and inspiration, bold designs and prints that are Coast Style.
